Re-enacting

A large proportion of my time is spent doing WWII re-enacting. "And what is that?", I hear you say; all is to be explained.
In order to learn about the period we are so fascinated with, we purchase uniforms and vehicles etc that suit our particular interest. My family's particular interest lies in US military vehicles : our collection currently consists of a GMC cargo truck(pictured below), a Half-track, a Willies' Jeep and a Diamond T Wrecker.

We take our vehicles to vintage vehicle displays and shows around the country and set up a display so that people can come take a look around, chat with us and ask us questions about the period, our particular display and anything else they might be interested in.

It makes a great day out and when I'm not displaying I thoroughly enjoy looking around the various stalls, many of which have items of interest to purchase (frequently emptying my pockets and overcrowding my junk-filled room).

So where do these events take place? All over! Listing them all would
take ages, so here's a few of my favourites:

The Goodwood Revival (www.goodwood.co.uk/revival/)

War & Peace (www.thewarandpeacerevival.co.uk/ )

Military Odyssey (https://www.military-odyssey.com/ )

Combined Ops Headcorn (http://www.combinedops.co.uk/)
As you can see above, a lot of what we do is often televised for documentaries etc.

Most recently I have been in Wheeler Dealers (left - trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOrq2vEnOKE&list=PL4504A6E3581E6345 ) and interviewed for The Great British Bake Off ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01n3dmp/The_Great_British_Bake_Off_Series_3_Episode_7/)

The more knowledgeable of you may be thinking to yourselves - Wait, she's a girl! She couldn't drive a truck in the 40s! Why would she be on a program about baking?!

So that the girlfriends/daughters/wives etc of our group could join in with the group we attached a Clubmobile to our inventory of vehicles. Thought up by the American Red Cross, the clubmobile would travel around parts of war-torn England and France to various military bases and hand out Coffee and Doughnuts to the troops to boost their morale. I portray one of these women, who traveled to those in need of a smile and something good to eat.

If you want to know more about our group take a look at our site: http://www.arcclubmobile.co.uk/ or send me an e-mail
